(Find an interesting film opening sequence on YouTube, paste it onto your blog and write about why you find it interesting, including ideas about titles, sound, editing and camerawork. Use the links from this blog to help you find stuff. Be ready to explain the sequence to the class in the first lesson with Barney)
For my homework regarding the title sequences, we were asked to find a title sequence we found interesting and explain why. While looking, i found a number of various title sequences i liked, which were:
1. Step up
2. Catch me if you can
3. Die another day
4. Save the last dance
It was hard to choose just one so i added two on here. These were Die Another Day and Catch me if you can. I have never seen Catch me if you can, but while browsing i found it and i liked the opening sequence.
I liked Die Another Day for the fact it had a lot of smart visual effects, which must have took a lot of time and effort to make, and the music went very well with it. I liked the fact the fonts were simple, and therefore contrasted with the vast visual effects. There are a few various camera angles which work very well such as long shots to establish the scene and close ups of the main character (James Bond) to show his emotions. It also has the song 'Die another day' by Madonna, which obviously goes very well with the title sequence.
However i liked Catch me if you can, due to the animation and the way the fonts, titles were shown and the way they were joined with the animation. I liked the fact that the fonts were simple but yet again they worked extremely well, i also liked the way the animation went from one place to another, for example at first there is just animation of people, which are kind of silhouettes to make them stand out, this then changes to a car scene which is very effective in the way it switches. I liked the overall colour scheme, first there was a black silhouette on blue background, then various others black on pink, black on yellow etc - and using black with pastel colours works well.
